Come join us at Vision: A Center for Spiritual Living as we honor and celebrate the incredible musicians who have made a lasting impact on the San Diego music scene. This in-person event will feature live performances, heartfelt speeches, and a chance to mingle with fellow music enthusiasts. Don’t miss out on this special evening dedicated to recognizing the talented individuals who have shaped our local music community.

Congratulations to The San Diego Music Hall Of Fame Class of 25

Rosie Flores – The “Rockabilly Filly,” an international guitar hero fusing rockabilly, punk, and country.
John Reis – Genre-shaping rock icon behind Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, and Drive Like Jehu.
Kamau Kenyatta – Grammy-winning jazz artist, educator, and producer.
Bob Magnusson – Globally respected jazz bassist and longtime San Diego mentor.
The Dinettes – Trailblazing all-female punk band from the early ’80s DIY scene.
Bart Mendoza – Musician, journalist, historian, and tireless supporter of the local scene.
Eulogio “The Soul Man” Fos – Beloved community member and joyful performer known for uniting people through rhythm and love.

Performances and Special Persentaions
The night will include live performances from inductees Rosie Flores, Bart Mendoza, The Soul Man, as well as 2024 inductee Cindy Lee Berryhill and Israel Maldonado

The ceremony will also feature:
The Dawn Steel Award for Strength, honoring courage in the face of adversity
The Mark Goffeney Opportunity Scholarship, awarded to a rising local musician

The evening includes a silent auction, food and beverages, exclusive SDMHOF merchandise, and a celebration of a city rich in musical legacy.

The San Diego Music Hall of Fame (SDMHOF) is holding its 3rd annual Induction event at Newbreak Church, 4694 Cape May Avenue, in Ocean Beach San Diego. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019. The SDMHOF was founded to celebrate the city’s rich musical past and to honor over a century of great music in San Diego. The SDMHOF’s inductees include Eagles’ songwriter Jack Tempchin, pop superstar Jason Mraz, legendary jazz pianist Sue Palmer and many more.

2021’s Hall of Fame class honors six gifted talents, who generously represented San Diego music, locally and around the world. Legendary rockers The Beat Farmers were a traveling musical pleasure experience that will never be duplicated ever again. Iconic guitar makers, Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug delivered Taylor Guitars to a worldwide audience, with an exemplary commitment to the community. The Deering Family has provided world-class banjos for two generations and counting. Lisa Sanders has captivated audiences for 25 years with her hard work, soulful music, and her powerful personal journey. Yale Strom is a San Diego klezmer music legend, collaborating with a who’s who of local musicians including San Diego music Hall of Famers, jazz pianist Sue Palmer and folk and bluegrass icon Walt Richards. DJ Carlos Culture was a leader of the local reggae scene and a guiding light to many young reggae bands. He passed away in 2020. His children and their mother will receive the 2021 Dawn Steel Award for Strength.

“Our intention is to be inclusive and to honor people who have given a large part of themselves to making music in San Diego, regardless of how many records they may or may not have sold,” said SD Music Hall of Fame founder and host, Jefferson Jay. “There is an incredible history of great music in San Diego, and we are focused on sharing this, and ultimately raising awareness and opportunities for music and musicians in this place we all love calling home.”

Inductees Sanders, Strom, and The Beat Farmers’ Jerry Raney are scheduled to perform as are Richards, Rob Deez, Nathan Raney and Gato Papacitos. A portion of the proceeds will go to the recipient of The Dawn Steel Award for Strength, given annually at the SDMHOF ceremony to members of the music community who have exhibited strength in the face of adversity. It will be a moving evening of entertainment and local music history, celebrating the inductees and their contributions. There will be beverages and snacks available, as well as event merchandise and a silent auction.
