Electric Waste Band

Electric Waste Band is a longstanding fixture in San Diego’s music scene, renowned for their Monday night residency at Winstons in Ocean Beach since February 1992. Specializing in classic rock with a focus on the Grateful Dead, the psychedelic jam band is known for their energetic performances and devoted following of Deadheads. Despite their association with the Dead’s music, the band prides itself on not being purely a tribute act but rather interpreters who infuse their own style into the songs, making them uniquely their own.

Singer-guitarist Robert Harvey, who balances his role as an attorney by day with his musical pursuits, states the band operates democratically, with no single leader but rather a collaborative approach among band members. This setup, along with a deep bench of musicians who can step in as needed, has contributed to their longevity and cohesion over the years. Popular with Deadheads and brew aficionados alike, the band even had a limited release Karl Strauss beer named after it. Electric Waste Band shows are not just musical events but gatherings where regulars come together to enjoy the grooves and community spirit fostered by the group.
